One a look into a high-tech future. The other a science fiction flick its makers insist isn’t science fiction (because that’s kiddie crap, right?). Very different movies, both influenced by the cold, sterile look that later became very passe. It seems to be making something of a comeback these days.

From a period before the gaudy Future Mall look of Logan’s Run made a brief appearance before giving way to the “used” future look of Star Wars and Alien.  For a brief period, the NASA-inspired antiseptic look was the big thing.

First, 2001, followed by Andromeda Strain.
